With more than 690 million members and over 30 million companies on LinkedIn, this social media platform is a great way to connect and sell.

You’re probably familiar with LinkedIn from job hunting and networking for yourself. As an entrepreneur, it’s time to utilize it for another purpose – building and marketing your business.

Make LinkedIn work for you and your business with these tips.

Business Page

Create a business page on LinkedIn. It’s free! It’s another way to be found in online searches too.

Tell readers about your mission, values, and vision in the “Company Description” section. Make your text SEO friendly by including keywords. Upload your business logo and add a cover photo that showcases your business.

Hashtags work on LinkedIn and you’re allowed to choose three hashtags to make your profile more searchable. Pick hashtags that are used in your industry.

Like other social media platforms, you can add a call-to-action button. Options include visit website, learn more, contact us. Register, and sign up.

Promote Your Page

You’ve built your LinkedIn Business Page, now it’s time to promote it. Share a link to your page on your website, on other social platforms, and even in your newsletter. Ask people to follow you.

Start Posting

Share posts on LinkedIn that include images or videos. Like other social media platforms, posts that include pictures or videos perform better than posts that are just text.

On LinkedIn, videos see five times more engagement than any other type of content.

Post at the Right Time

Posting regularly will build an audience. Research finds the best times to post on LinkedIn are 7:45 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 12:45 p.m., and 5:45 p.m. EST. The best day for B2B brands is Wednesday. For B2C brands, the best days are Mondays and Wednesdays. Check your analytics to make sure these days and times work for your followers.

Analytics

Speaking of analytics, regularly check your analytics to see what posts people engaged with most and what didn’t do well. Adjust your marketing to do more of what works!

Join a LinkedIn Group

Just like Facebook, LinkedIn Groups are an online community forum. Groups allow you to stay on top of industry trends and connect with influencers and other community members. Join a Group that is relevant to your industry and join the conversation.
