You’re crafting content and sending out newsletters, but no one is opening them! You can’t figure out what’s happening. Here are some reasons your newsletter open rates are declining.

Lack of Customization

People want customized content. They don’t want to and don’t have time to sift through a bunch of junk that isn’t intended for them. Know your audience and give them what they want.

Email Subject Line

Newsletters often have the same subject line format. You have to spice up your subject lines to grab your readers’ attention.

Not Enough Value

When you send out your newsletter, it should contain content that is of value to your customers and potential customers. Share tips, a strategy, a free resource you’ve found, or a tool that you’ve used that they could benefit from. If your reader gets value from your newsletter, they will keep opening them.

Not Mobile-Friendly

Today’s consumers are checking their email on their phones or tablets. If your newsletter isn’t optimized for mobile, you’re missing a large portion of your audience.

Stale Email List

Nothing kills your deliverability like a stale email list. Remove subscribers who haven’t opened an email in six months. They’re just not interested!
